    [pn':DcmnsadStig\h srM ouet\ (Excel 2002)

A neighbour has a problem with Excel, all the files she opens have random pieces of text in them that start:-
    [pn"cmnsadStigh srM ouet
after the last there are different strings of characters.

I put a sample of one of these files on my machine, removed the “messages”, saved the file and when re-opening the messages do not re-appear.

When my neighbour removes the messages and saves they are back again next time she opens the file. I believe she has an earlier version of Excel to myself, could be Excel97.

We would both welcome suggestions as to what is going on here….

In addition to Hans' suggestion, you might want to check the system for a virus.
