Moving from 1 cell to another (Excel XP)

I would like a user to complete a spreadsheet and want Excel to move a to another cell as soon as she completes a cell. For example she should complete A1 then on enter she should be moved to E5 then enter and then to F9.

TIA

Try this:

1) Unlock cells.
- Select the cells the user should fill in (use Ctrl+click to select individual cells).
- Select Format | Cells...
- Activate the Protection tab.
- Clear the Locked check box.
- Click OK.

2) Protect worksheet.
- Select Tools | Protection | Protect Sheet...
- Clear the check box 'Select locked cells' (but leave 'Select unlocked cells' ticked).
- Optionally specify a password.
- Click OK.

The user can now move only between the unlocked cells.

Just as a matter of interest, does the option to move to the next cell (as below) need to be enabled for this to work after pressing [Enter] - and is that something that can be set up to apply only to specific worksheets?

Personally I dislike the active cell moving in general use, but I could see it being useful in one or two applications.

In an unprotected sheet, or in a protected sheet in which you can select both locked and unlocked cells, Enter behaves according to the 'Move selection after Enter' setting.

In a protected sheet in which you can only select unlocked cells, Enter will take you to the next unlocked cell, regardless of the 'Move selection after Enter' setting.

Apart from this, 'Move selection after Enter' is an application-wide setting. You could use event code to change it for specific sheets, but that's a bit tricky.

You know, you are absolutely correct!

(Sorry, I should have tried it myself to see - I had a recollection that it didn't work like that... )

Thanks!
