    Troublesome Tool-tips (XP Home SP2)

    Hello,

I'm trying to help my father get rid of some pesky tool-tips. I've used Tweak UI and also changed the setting under Folder Options and most of them seem to be gone. However, I dragged a folder to the start menu so that my father could access the contents without using the mouse. Unfortunately, when a file is highlighted a tool-tip appears. Is there any way to get rid of them completely.

    Thanks,

    Chris (Hunt)

You could try this registry edit from The Elder Geek.

Thanks for the reply, I've already changed that setting but unfortunately it hasn't helped.

    Chris,

Sorry if this is a stupid questions, but ....

Have you tried checking for the value in the other profiles (ALL & Administrator) ? Granted the Administrator account should not have an effect, but the generall ALL profile might.

Thanks for the idea, Scott. I've changed various settings in the registry and I'm beginning to think it is impossible to get the tool tips to disappear.
