    SUMIF (Excel 2003)

Ok I can't figure out this simple total. I have 70+ rows of data and I want to get a total_$ of all rows that match a certain criteria. Here's a sample:
    <pre>A, $3
    A, $4
    B, $5
    B, $5
    A, $7</pre>

I need a total $ for all rows that contain "A" in col B and another total for all rows that contain "B" in col B (the data to be totalled is in col V). So in this example Total_A=$14, Total_B=$10.

I can't get my SUMIF to work and tried an array formula but obviously can't figure it out.

    Re: SUMIF (Excel 2003)

    The formula

    =SUMIF(A1:A100,"A",B1:B100)

(it's a "normal" formula, not an array formula) will sum all numbers in B1:B100 for which the corresponding cell in A1:A100 contains A.
