    Searching for * character (XP/2002)

I have a dataset which contains some * characters that I need to remove from the data. If I search for * and replace with something else, it replaces everything with the new text as it presumably assumes I'm looking for a wildcard. I've tried using ASCII codes, but same result. Any ideas?

To search for a character that also acts as a wildcard, such as * and ?, precede it with a tilde ~. So enter ~* in the Find What box.
