Anyone use NetStudio?

Hello,
Anyone use NetStudio to design nice buttons for their webpage? I have it but don't know how to incorporate them into my "homepage" which is located on my hard drive and I only use it to link my favorite shortcuts. It's not published anywhere. I have written NetStudio numerous times but I don't get any answers.

I just thought I'd spuce up the look of what I already have. Getting tired of looking at the same old thing. I used FrontPage to create the links and background but I would like to add some neat buttons etc but don't know how.

Can anyone tell me how to do it? or Perhaps point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Louise

Hi Louise

I am assuming that as you have created your buttons in NetStudio you have saved them as a gif or jpg file, I shall assume the former. Without any further information I shall assume it is not a rollover image, if it is we can provide the relevant code, but will keep it simple for the moment.

It is good practice to keep all your html files in a root folder and all your graphics in a sub folder within the root, the general naming convention is to call this sub folder graphics or images and this is where you store all graphics for the website ( It keeps the folder tidy)

Place your button image in the graphics folder ( I shall call mybutton.gif) and write this piece of code in your HTML file

< a href="otherwebpage.htm"></a>

I hope this helps, get back to me if not

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for your reply. Will have to try it when I get home. I assume the code goes into the HTML tab of Front Page? I have also made some "hover buttons" with NetStudio and they were saved as HTML files. I don't know anything about HTML so I didn't go any further.

Will let you know how I make out.

Thanks again,
Louise

We are fighting time zones here with a 6 hour lag but if you want you can post it in a zip file with both the documsnts and we can look at it later....offers there <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Thank you very much for your offer! No worries about the time lag. I've been putting this off for over a year so I guess I'm in no hurry. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> It's just for me anyway.

Will keep you posted.
Thanks again,

Re: Anyone use NetStudio?

Hi Jerry,
Here's a zip file containing a couple of html files I was working on. One has a plain windows button (Copy), but it was driving me crazy with all the yellow "active content" warmings every time I brought it up that I deleted it for the plain LCARS. I made a couple of quick test buttons with NetStudio. One a plain gif file and the other a hover button. Wanted to find out if I could use them before going into a lot of time with color changes, texture, size etc. (NetStudio also created files with the same name but with a .nso extension. Didn't think you needed those so I didn't include them.)

In looking at the background, I wanted to use the left hand side of the LCARS window /picture to put the buttons to either go to another page with more shortcuts or simply shutdown.

Please don't go to a lot of trouble. I thought that if it was easy to do, I'd take the time to try and figure it out., (with your help, of course <img src=/S/joy.gif border=0 alt=joy width=23 height=23> )

Let me know what you think.

Thanks again,

Hi Louise

Now I see what is going on <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I was scratching head when you said that NetStudio creates a HTML document. Yes it does indeed create an HTML document but purely so that it can craete javascript code that allows the image to change when you pass your mouse over it. I started to copy the code into this post but Lex got upset as it was javascript.

The general concept here is that you have three images click, hover, normal. When a user views it they will see the normal image (red), hover (yellow) , click (green).

I have added the explanation in to a text file and added it to the attached zip file as the message is being hampered by including javascript.
Just ensure that the images and the html file ar ein the same folder as in my example to get this to work properly

Re: Anyone use NetStudio?

Hi Jerry,
Thanks so much. Will give it a try.

I looked at the revised "webpage" that you did. Very nice. It doesn't "shut it down" yet but I will work on it some more. If I find that it starts that annoying "active content" security message again every time I load it or go back to it, I probably won't continue using it.

Thanks again!
Louise
