    Administrator account (Home)

I think I'm going to be embarrassed by this one---------------------

I am a one-user user. Am I also, therefore, the administrator? Is there a setting that will tell me this?

    Thank you, the Red-Faced One.

No, you're not necessarily administrator, although it's probable.
Select Start | Control Panel, and activate User Accounts. You'll see whether you are an administrator. See screenshot.

With XP "Home" the only way to get into "THE Administrator" account is to boot into the "Safe Mode".
BUT as you found out each user account may have "administrator" privileges.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
