Presume you are referring to <!mskb=321379>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 321379<!/mskb>

A BATch file is just a file, so you can do anything you like with it.

I'm not sure whether the absence of the BATch file will remove or negate the "new entry for file folders' that you inserted, though...

Re: Print Directory - delete (Home)

    Progress report:

    Deleted the .bat file, rebooted.

The rt-click context menu still contains thePrint List Directory

I still cannot delete/remove it from File Types.

And, I do have the Search Companion starting when clicking a folder, instead of the folder being opened.

Is it possible to write a batch file to delete this particular one?

    Thanks all.

Edited 8/13/2006 ~ 1325 CDT to correct deltree command

I do not remember if XP has this DOS command (I'm using the Notebook with ME), but ...

Open a command window and enter the following command,

    deltree %temp%printlist

When requested, press "Y" then enter and the subdirectory printlist and all contents will be deleted.

    Good luck !

    Scott -

Thanks for posting. When I enter the command and hit Enter, I get "Deltree is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Appreciate your trying on my behalf.

I do have the Search Companion starting when clicking a folder, instead of the folder being opened.

Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and apply fix # 18 in the right column.

The rt-click context menu still contains thePrint List Directory

    Apply fix # 339 - right column

Thank you for pointing me to that site. I noted that running it (them)t involves the registry. Is there no way to delete the batch file completely? I am happy to stay with her Print Folder. I don't want the MS file.

    Thanks again.

Re: Print Directory - delete (Home)

Deleting the batch file won't get rid of the context menu entry that runs it. For that you need to delete the Registry entry. See this page.

Also note that the Kelly's Korner #339 .reg file may not work in your case if the Registry entries you created don't exactly match the ones in Kelly's .reg file. (For example, it looks like your entry would refer to a "printdir.bat" file, rather than a "prin.bat" file.) I'd be inclined to edit the Registry entry (or entries) directly as described on the page I link to above.

UPDATE: Oops. I believe the line I focused on in Kelly's .reg file (referring to "prin.bat") is actually a comment that won't affect what the .reg file does. As long as the last part of the Registry entry you created is Print_Directory_Listing, Kelly's .reg file should delete it for you. (I'd still do it manually, though, if it was me.)

Thank you again for suggesting that site. I bit the bullet and all seems fine.

And thanks to all who responded. I obviously did not know the nature of a batch file. You were all helpful and courteous in your respsonses - as usual!

Re: Print Directory - delete (Home)

Just a followup to the Deltree command from my <post#=592,337>post 592,337</post#>. I was not sure exactly what you wanted to do, I thought you just wanted to delete the subdirectory printlist.

But Deltree command for XP can be found at FreeDOS Programs. Click on the Link Deltree. Or Click Here to get Deltree v1.02e, 2003-06-22.

Once downloaded, extract to a subdirectory (I used c:tempdeltree).

Then, from the command prompt (Click <Start>, <Run>, Enter cmd, Press enter) execute the command:
    c:deltreedeltree %temp%printlist

This will remove the printlist subdirectory. If I was wrong and this was not what you wanted - sorry.
