moving OL 2000 config. to new PC (Outlook 2000 SR-1)

    Hello
I have a new Windows 2000 PC which comes with Windows 2000 and Office 2000 pre-loaded.
Does anyone know what files I need to transfer to take my current Outlook 2000 SR-1 configuration settings from my old Windows 95 PC?
    Hope someone can help.

You may not get everything across, but these files will help. 1st, you need to create a profile on the new system with the same name as on the old one. Then locate and copy the following files from the old PC to the corresponding location on the new one. The path may not be exactly the same because of the way Win2k handles user settings.

    *.fav
    Outcmd.dat
    *.rwz
    *.nick
*.rtf, *.htm, *.html or *.txt (in the signatures folder)

You may have a PST file that is used for archiving. I think the default is Archive.pst but you could have named it anything and will want to check it in the old outlook.

If you're set up to work off line you'll have a *.ost file too.

If you use profiles, these are stored in the registry. You'll need to export the key and import it. I think the path is hkey_current_userSoftwareMicrosoftOffice9.0Outlook CategoriesMasterList.

    Good luck!
