    'Strong' style (Word 2002)

A style entitled "strong" keeps appearing in a co-worker's word documents.
He deletes it but periodically it comes back...
Is this anything to be concered about?
    Where is it coming from?

Does your colleague have "Define styles based on your formatting" turned on in the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect Options...?

In HTML, [b] is usually displayed as boldface. Perhaps applying boldface to text is creating that style or style variant.

Does he paste content from another source (a web site, or a different word document, or...)?

Then my best guess is that he is pasting something formatted as [b] in the source document. If he doesn't need to keep the source formatting then he could use Paste Special > Unformatted Text, otherwise he will probably have to live with this.

No, he shouldn't - it was just a possible cause that has now been ruled out. Stuart's question and your reply now seem to point to a more likely cause.
