    picture clearity (MS powerpoint 2003)

    Hi to you all,

What I have is a map that I have created using excels, I saved it as an image file with (.tif) extension, and then I inserted it on power point slide. The picture data is not clear. Any suggestions to improve picture clarity. i have tried using picture format option but the results still not satisfactory.

    thanks in advance
    TIA

Have you tried copying the map in Excel, then pasting it into PowerPoint?

Anytime bitmap data has to "shrink to fit" then some data may get distorted. Also, it sometimes looks fuzzy while editing but correct when you Show.

If the original picture is small, it'll be grainy when you enlarge it.
Would it be possible to make it larger in Excel?

Is the map in Excel a vector drawing? If so, and if you have a PDF print driver, try this: print from Excel to PDF, then view the PDF, increase zoom to make the image the desired size, then use Alt+PrintScreen to capture the enlarged map. Paste into an image editing program (Windows Paint will do) and select just the part you want, copy, and paste into PowerPoint. Alternatively, you can paste directly into PowerPoint and use the cropping tool to remove the unnecessary toolbars and other Acrobat stuff.

Added: Some PDF printer drivers (such as pdfFactory 1.x) will reduce the resolution of images to 96dpi by default. You would want to turn that off for purposes of this experiment.
