No "On Behalf Of" on message from delegate (Outlook 2000 SR1 C/WG)

After setting up an assistant as a delegate to my inbox as an Editor, and also setting up permission to my Outlook Today folder as an owner, e-mails she sends on my behalf are still showing as coming from me.

She is using File/Open to open my inbox, then clicking the New Mail Message button.

Am I missing a step?

If I can get that part to work, then I have a second question: how does the administrator assign Send As permission? All the information available says it can be done, but not the steps to do it!

she needs send as permission set on the server. are you using ex5.5 or 2000?

they are on the property sheet for the mailbox, but at least in ex5.5, are not displayed by default. tools > options from the admin utility. permissions tab, show permissions page checkbox.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm 90% sure it's Exchange 5.5

Where do I find this tab? Does admin have to do that, too?

yes, the admin needs to do it, from the exchange admin utility. first the admin needs to show the permission property then open the property sheet for your mailbox in the admin utility and enable send as on your mailbox.

After making sure the property sheet permissions page checkbox was checked and setting the Send As permission for the delegate under my properties, the e-mails sent by the delegate still show as being sent by her, not me.

Is there anything else I can check?

Try this.
When the delegate sends the email, bring up the From field in the message header. (View | From Field - note that this option is only visible when a new message is being created. Once set, it stays set for all new messages until removed, but unless something is put into the field, emails will be seen as coming from the delegate.)
When the delegate sends an email on your behalf, the From field should contain egghead (really cool company policy on how to address people ) and this should generate the header From : delegate on behalf of egghead.
Hope this works

Re: Send As for Exch 2000? (Outlook 2000 SR1 C/WG)

That was the step that was missing, thanks!

Any idea of how to set the Send As permission in Exchange 2000? I understand the interface is not the same.

Thanks!

Sorry, no. That's systems admin stuff, way out of my capability range.
Glad you got the 'on behalf of' messages working, though.
Cheers
