Filter results count in Staus bar (XP/2003)

A while back I can recall a method given to ensure that the filter count showed in the status bar when an auto filter is applied. Searching for this method returned nothing?? The excel appl. I am working in currently only shows "Filter Mode". How can I get it to display eg. "16 Records Found"??

And I was searching for Auto filter count, or Filter count....(Just my luck!)
