    Continuous Page Numbering (2000/SP3)

I've got an 11-section document, each section restarting numbering (Page __ of Section Pages) in the header except the first page which is the TOC with no page number. Client would like a page number in the footer of the actual page number - is this possible?

Can you explain what exactly you mean by "Client would like a page number in the footer of the actual page number"?

Each section is supposed to restart; however he would like the to say "on page 54" which may really be page 7 of Section 5. Does this make more sense?

The TOC references as actual pages, not section pages.

Microsoft explains how to do this using SEQ fields or using bookmarks and PAGEREF fields in MSKB article How to create two page-numbering schemes in one document in Word 2003 and in Word 2002. They should also work in Word 2000. Neither method is particularly easy. You'll find an example attached to JScher2000's <post:=368,157>post 368,157</post:>.
