(Edited by skitterbug on 29-Aug-06 08:27. Expanded on my answer!)
The object on the right looks like a wooden Chalice cup

Added: It took me awhile to find the name of the second vessel - provided these are communion utensils - I'd say it was a ciborium: (1) A box in which the Host (wafers or bread for the Eucharist) is kept.

I think you are onto something there. I had a look at the properties of the image and it is called mystery1108. Now doing a Google on 1108 it immediately comes up with Communion and therefore I think you are spot on and have spotted a Communion set- sorry I am not religious so don't know the fancy name

    Re: And What's This?

A valiant effort by all I'd say, so I guess it deserves an answer. It's actually an old (early 20th century) pine smoking set! The left item holds matches, the right piece is an ashtray. Maybe the middle one is to do with filling/ compacting a pipe? Apparently there's a metal plate on the base, to strike matches.

Is this something you have in your collection? Maybe something passed along in your family? Items such as these are very interesting to see! Thanks!

Not mine I'm afraid Skitter . IT's part of an (colonial) Decorative Arts collection at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
