I've seen MSKB articles for Word and Outlook, but I don't know about the others.

Outlook stores e-mails, appointments etc. in a .pst file. See Outlook & Exchange/Windows Messaging Backup and Dual-Boot for an overview of this and other extensions used by Outlook.

Windows Desktop Search: Searchabale File Types may be useful (note the spelling error in the window title <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>)

Perhaps look at the thread starting with <post#=586,579>post 586,579</post#> and, in the links, use your browser's Find capability on each of your key words?

Thank you one and all. Your input was well used. I ended up looking to see what options were available in the Save as dialog for each of the applications, then making some judgement calls based gut feel and the pointers I received from you good folk.

    Thanks again

. . . and now that you have compiled a list, are you going to share it with the rest of us?
