    BIOS update

    I have a P2 running OK on a P2L97 Asus Motherboard.
It doesn't see HDDs larger than 32 Gb, and I need to it to see an 80Gb.
Asus website gave me the new BIOS to update, but I don't have the instructions on how to proceed. Cannot even download the manual to see if there are any instructions, or guidance here.
    Could please someone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Daniel Rozenberg.

    Re: BIOS update

Every BIOS update I've ever done there has been an instruction on how to proceed. Can you give us a link to where you got this update so one of us can see if you possibly missed something? I've never done Asus. Is their BIOS of their own branding or from Phoenix or .... ?

    Re: BIOS update

You not only need a Bios file for the update, but also a tool called a "flash utility" that you can download from the Asus website. Which one depends on the motherboard model. On this Asus support page you can find information on the procedure to upgrade the Bios for different motherboards. But I'm not sure your motherboard is listed there. Anyway, by downloading one of the documents you can get a general idea about the procedure.

Thank you very much for your replies.
Asus gave me a file supposed to be the BIOS flash, but it has an AWD extension.
The manual for the P2L97 motherboard mentions an utility from Aware Inc. , the manufacturers of the BIOS chip. Obviously, I don't have that utility.
The AWD extension was iedntified by Microsoft as belonging to Aware. They have an online scanning which gets all the info from the machine, and ask for an online application to be filled to get the new BIOS version.
They send you the chip (to replace in MB), for the "modest" sum of U$S 40.00.
    Project abandoned.
    Tanks everyone anyway.

    Daniel,
You may want to have a look at this page which has a download for a flash utility for this mobo. It also mentions that the recommended utility doesn't actually work, but I can't comment on that. (I will say that I personally find the Asus website pretty useless and find downloads from there tend to work at about 5KB/s no matter where I try them from - though that may be because I'm not using their latest hardware)

    Daniel,
No problem - you may also want to download Asus' Aflash utility just in case - it can be found on the same site here. It's probably worth having a disk with this and the BIOS update on it too, in case something goes wrong with the other one!
    HTH.

    Re: BIOS update

No, unfortunately none of the Xflash.exe worked.
    The ctbios.exe does, though.
Nevertheless, thank you all in general, and rory in particular; for your kind help.
