    Access CE?

Does anyone know if MS Windows CE 2.0 will support the CE version of Access? Thats supposing there is a CE version of Access, I've been told there is!

    No and yes <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Pocket Access comes with HPC Pro 3.01 (aka Windows CE 2.11). But as this application is built into the ROM along with the o/s it can't be used with earlier versions. There are however other databases that can be loaded.

    Dear Keith,

    Thanks for responding.

Is that the only way to get Access on a pocket PC? And would you happen to know if there

Check out Data On The Run 1.60:

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wincecity.com/software/pocketpc/Data-On-The-Run-2001-4-13-ce-pocketpc.html>http://www.wincecity.com/software/pocketpc...e-pocketpc.html</A>

It's new as of July 14.

    Also check out Pocket Database:

    Re: Access CE?

Microsoft has said that they are not going to produce an Access for the Handheld platform. Instead, they're pushing SQL Server for Windows CE. You can download an eval copy at:

    http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/tr...CE/download.asp

It seems to be the way that they're moving with a lot of things a la .Net -- however, it seems a little weird running SQL Server on a handheld!

If you thought SQL server on a handheld is strange how about and IBM DB2 database. Yes there is such a thing. you can get it at:

    www-4.ibm.com/software/data/db2/everyplace/

I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Edited by <font color=blue>cbaldrey</font color=blue> to make URL active.

I am trying abcDB from <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.pocketsoft.ca>Pocketsoft.ca</A>. It seems to do what I want it to do. I have a database with about 1500 records. It syncs well, and queries are easy to compose and use.
