DTPicker CheckBox (2000 SR-1)

I added a DateTimePicker control to an input form. When I open the form for input, I get the following message:
"Can't set Value to NULL when CheckBox property = FALSE." This seems like gibberish to me. I set the checkbox property to TRUE, and (big surprise!) the control displayed with a checkbox in it. The MSDN database says this "...allows the user to determine whether or not to set the date using the control." I am just starting to work with Access, and fail to see the advantage to making the user click an extra control. What can I do to use this control without the checkbox?

I wouldn't, if I were you. The checkbox looks like a good idea but it doesn't behave very well. I tried it in a form header, and it locked every other control on the header when I unchecked it. I still haven't figured out how.

You can download an example of using a date time picker at where I posted it for another thread.
