Microsoft VM Problems (Win-XP, MS VM 5.3)

NIXC on this entry... I just tried it again, and this time, it worked?!... Oh my...

    Sorry all...

I wasn't at all sure where to put this, but...

I set up MS's Virtual PC... and got three vm's set up.

But I was trying to set up two of the drives on my host to share, and cannot seem to do so. I set up the sharing on both, and that went fine, and if I establish the connection by hand, it works fine.

But i have them set to re-connect when re-starting, and it never can, although I turn right around and do it manually, and it works fine. When starting I get a message that the permanent connection is not available.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

Your description of the problem is not clear. As far as I understand, you map two drives on your host PC to your virtual PC, but reopen a virtual PC from "saved" state does not restore your network connections, is it correct?

The proper procedure (workaround) is: from your virtual PC map the drives on your host PC, checking "Reconnect at logon" option. When closing virtual PC, use "shut down" option, never "save the state".

It is known Microsoft Virtual PC bug since earlier versions.

Check his post again. Chuck doesn't do his "edits" very clearly - he cancelled the request and says it's now working.

That's OK, Chuck, but you're right - a separate post to reply to "yourself" would have been one way. What I usually do when I do decide to edit one of my posts with followup info is to put the edit at the bottom, something like this using a beginning BOLD to bring attention to it:

Edited to add: Some additional information.
