    IFSum for multiple conditions (Excel 2003)

    How do you write an IFsum formula to have it add numbers after checking for two (2) different conditions?

    SUMIF only works with one condition. There are several possibilities to accomplish what you want, but which one will work depends on exactly what you want to do. Could you give us a complete description of what you want to accomplish?

    Hi Legare.

    I am trying to have two columns read (FYBPR and Type) and if two conditions are met, say 2008-2009 and Capital, have the numbers in the Cost Estimate column summed. I have attached a file that illustrations what I am talking about.

    Thanks.

    In cell D15, you could use this array formula (confirm with Ctrl+Shift+Enter):
    <code>
    =SUM(IF((B2:B8="2008-2009")*(C2:C8="Capital"),F2:F8))
    </code>
    or this normal formula (confirm with Enter):
    <code>
    =SUMPRODUCT((B2:B8="2008-2009")*(C2:C8="Capital"),F2:F8)
    </code>
    Use the same formula in D16, but substitute "Other" for "Capital".
