    Index and seq (2003)

    Two documents with "identical" structure.
Chapters are numbered using {seq "chapter" h} - works fine for footers.
Index field is {index s "chapter"} - one doc gives me index entries with "chapter - page"; the other document gives only "page"!!!
All options look the same. I have tried copying the rogue document conent (except the last paragraph mark) to a new doc - didn't resolve the problem.

    Any thoughts.
    TIA

Could you attach a stripped down copy of the rogue document?

Do you never sleep Hans :-)

I stripped the rogue doc and set up chapter seq fields and an index. The same thing appears to happen.

I can't find an explanation, but apparently all section breaks are corrupt. If you copy everything except the last paragraph mark to a new document, remove all section breaks, then insert new section breaks, and finally update the index (F9), the chapter numbers appear.

    Bingo. Thanks Hans.

210 pages, 27 sections, oh joy.

It's a PITA, but unfortunately, this or copying sections one by one (without the section break) are the only methods I can think of.
