    Sorting (2003)

This should be the easiest thing in the world but I'm struggling. W is a range consisting of one column of data (not a whole Excel column, but most of one). I want to sort it, yet all of the following return errors:

    W.Sort
    W.Sort W.Cells(1, 1)
    W.Sort W.Cells(1, 1), xlAscending, , , , , , xlNo
(the "xlNo" in the last one refers to the existence of a header row)

    - and just about any other combination I can think of. What could be wrong?

If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.
