    Sounds (SP2)

On a new computer I've been trying to get rid of a "whoosh" sound at the end of the boot sequence. I've removed most of the sounds from the Windows sound scheme, but this rather irritating one remains. Anyone have any idea what it is?I also thought it may be something from a application (such as Skype), rather than Windows, but can't find anything relevant.

Before or after you log on?

You may have to go down the route of disabling startup items - deselect them using msconfig - until you find the culprit. (I think Skype does make a Whoosh type noise - are you sure it is not it?)

Has this sound replaced the traditional Windows "jingle" when the boot sequence has finished or does it come after the "jingle" ??

Thanks Leif, you were right. I eventually found the culprit in Skype.

Thanks very much Doc. It turned out that Leif was right: the sound came from Skype. I just should have tried a bit harder to find it initially.
