    Wheres the Beef? (W97: SR-2)

Well not the beef but a bitmap file.

I have a mail merge document with a bitmap file within the body of the document. Everytime I run vba code to sendtoemail the file I loose all word formatting and the bitmap file.

Does anyone have any idea why these formats are lost during the email process?

    Thanks,
    John

    John,

I don't know much on this topic, but am just wondering whether this is happening because your e-mail default is set to plain text? (or is your e-mail default set to RichText or HTML, and the SendToEMail method is opening a Plain Text message, in which case I'm stumped!)

    Gary,

The e-mail default is set to HTML and the SendToEmail method sends the active document to the reciepient. If I send it off, the formats are lost. This is a good one for Mr. Gates.

"This is a good one for Mr. Gates" no, is just another world standard. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Try sending as attachment instead of sending as message body.

Word as e-mail editor (what you get when you send from Word through Outlook) is way buggy with 97 (you don't say which e-mail program you are using).

You should not lose all your formats and your .bmp file if you send as attachment (not sure, but maybe this code in your autonew: Options.SendMailAttach = True; or Tools, Options, General, check the Mail as Attachment checkbox).

I've did try attaching the file and it worked. however the sendtomail feature just strips all formatting and embedded objects. I'm not sure why but it sure seems strange.

    Using W97 & Outlook 98.
