Normal dot not functioning correctly (2003 SP-2)

For some reason normal.dot assumed, isn't working correctly. When I open a template in Word it isn't being displayed as expected. For example, if I open the "Contemporary Letter" template as a new document, none of the graphics are displayed and some fields are off the page. The "Preview" in the Template dialog shows correctly. And when I print the document, it prints as it should. The only thing I knew to try to resolve this was to delete the "normal.dot" file, reboot and then open Word again. But that didn't resolve the problem.

I'm looking for some help to fix this if possible.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

The 'Contemporary Letter' template is different from Normal.dot.

I'd start by checking whether it's a display problem:
    - Open the Display Properties control panel.
    - Activate the Settings tab.
    - Click Advanced...
    - Activate the Troubleshoot tab.
    - Drag the 'Hardware acceleration' slider all the way to the left.
    - Click Apply.
    - Check whether the problem is gone.
    - If so, you can test how far you can drag the slider to the right without the problem returning.
    - If not, restore the original setting, and check out Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000),197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000)<!/post>.

Make sure you are in a typical view (such as View>Normal or View>Print Layout) and that you don't have "Wrap to margins" set under Tools>Options...

Other than those issues, I can't think of why the screen should not match the printed output.
