Re: Layed out

Random thoughts on this as I drift off...

21 digits. UPCs are 12, so it is not a UPC.
21 digits could be 7 groups of three meaning that we have a 7 letter answer, with each letter coming from three digits.
The digits 4, 7, 8, and 9 do not appear. Could this be octal?
Why am I still awake at this hour?

Not exactly a game, but the only applicable thing that I could find for

Re: Layed out

Nothing shows up in octal, binary, or base 7. Haven't done XORs yet, but they don't look like good candidates. Using the numbers as directions does not draw anything. Factoring the number is uninteresting. Translating numbers as they appear into letters based on numerical position in alphabet yields nothing. Searching on some of the substrings of numbers in Google only yields onebillionmazes.com. Only thing interesting so far is that it is close to 1/20th of a Rubik's cube.

Layed out

Jezza Bear was down at Toys Ursus in the Magic Forest and it appears Ted Bear was up to his usual tricks of putting codes everywhere. On a piece of paper JB saw that Ted had written

Re: Layed out

I think you maybe looking at this a little too hard and does not use higher mathematical functions at all, just adding

The clue is that it is in a Toy shop and as Skitterbug is suggesting (wrongly) that it is a game. The second clue is in the name of the puzzle "Layed Out"

So we are looking for a game that when its pieces are layed out in a certain way this series can be created.

Let me just add some tabs and pipes

0|0 2|1 6|3 12|6 20|10 30|15 42|21 ......may have given it away now

Re: SPOILER

Sorry

Hans hadn't got it , so it was obviously too difficult

Pi Eater was using differential octal eleventh dimension search sub string methodology

so I assumed that it was just too left field and there was not much interest, so I threw in the towel.

The puzzle section has changed it fashion sense recently so I was looking for a different type of scenario

Re: SPOILER

Very cute, I feel stupid now, I looked and looked and totally failed to see the obvious.

That makes it a superb puzzle in my book, fiendishly difficult if you don't know it AND as plain as the nose on your face as soon as you get it.

I just know I would have figured it out...............!

I was hoping that by saying what I did, you would understand that I would never have solved your puzzle! But just trying to figure out what someone is actually saying can be a puzzle in itself, eh?

The puzzle section has changed it fashion sense recently so I was looking for a different type of scenario

I like these types of puzzles because it gives me a chance to "maybe" be able solve them!

You will have to thank the Jezzarettes for this one, we had just finished a very competitive game of dominoes. The rule in our house is that the winner always tidys up, we had a game of best of 5 and the girls had won 2-2-1, me being the latter score. Whilst tidying up they started to pile up the dominoes in order and proudly showed the result...I just do the adding bit at the end
