    Windows 98 - Temp Folder

I am always at a loss as to what to delete in the Widnow Temp folder

Have a whole bunch of .idx and .pdl files

A tolerable idea in situations where you wonder
whether it is wise to delete folders/files is to
rename them and wait a while to see what the
    bad news is.

In a temp folder there should be none.

So, rename the folder, create a new temp folder
    and continue as usual.

If you hit some problems, move the contents back.

Thanks much. I've acted on your suggestion and will wait a few days to see what happens.

I agree with Zeus - I would personally expect files in a Temp folder to be exactly that - temporary and not required in the future.
Hpdj - HP DeskJet? - sure sound like printer derived files. I wonder if they are being created under certain circumstances that require the temporary use of the printer driver - such as print-preview in a particular application.

My modus operandi in these situations is to create a dated temp folder - such as 'Delete_on_Aug11' - and move the files in question to it. If you've had no problems after a month, zap the folder.

    I trash <img src=/S/rubbish.gif border=0 alt=rubbish width=15 height=15> temp-files that are older than a day. A program that needs temporary files from the last session doesn't deserve mercy <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>.
A precaution I take before deleting temp files is to always restart a program after a crash, so it has a chance to repair the file(s) I last worked on.
