    Measurement Units (Office 2002 SP3)

    Hi Everyone,
I have a problem that was addressed in HansV post of 2004 (#354346) that has to do with Measurement Units staying stuck in points. Changing to inches does not stick. I followed the recommendations in the MSKB article #299339 to try either or both of the following: 1) Use VB Editor to enter the Immediate value: Options.CharacterUnit=False and 2) remove the Settings field from the Registry.

For me, the VB Editor entry has not effect. The Registry change does put the Measurement Units back to inches, but the next time the PC boots, the settings field is restored and we're back to Points as Measurement Units.

I'm wondering if I should do a total uninstall of Office and reinstall, or if there may be a quicker (and better) way to fix this little delimma.

Thanks a lot for any thoughts. As always, greatly appreciated.

Do you have the Adobe Acrobat add-in? It adds an Acrobat toolbar to Word and wreaks havoc with all kinds of settings in Word. See Graham Mayor's Lose that Adobe Acrobat Toolbar.

Otherwise, check out Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000),197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000)<!/post>.

Thanks for the suggestions, Hans. The problem turned out to be a template that was put into the startup directory by Epson Scanning software. The template was part of an OCR unility. With it removed all is back to normal. Your guidance was very helpful and appreciated.
