Error message when trying to get % of a number (2003)

I appear to be getting an error when trying to get 6% of a number in Excel but l am getting an error, see attachment.
I would appreciate any help on as to the cause of the error and if the formula for getting 6% of a number is correct.

What is the formula in that cell in column AP? Does it refer to a cell that does not contain a number?

If that number is in A1, 6% of that number is:
    =a1*6%

Please can you close this thread l managed to resolve it by using the formula:

    =S30*1.06

And changing the cell to the relevant currency format.

    I can't close the thread.

<img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>your answer is a 6% increase in the value, not 6% of the value which is what you requested...
