    Tracking time (XP)

Assume that in the [h]:mm:ss format you had 0:30:00, how would you convert it to be as part of an hour? If you divide it by 60 you get 0:00:30. I would like to get it to .5hrs. Thanks.

    Re: Tracking time (XP)

Say that A1 contains the time value.
In another cell, enter the formula =A1*24 and format this cell as a number (or clear the formatting).
Explanation: Excel stores all date and time values as multiples and fractions of 1 day. To convert a time to hours, multiply with the number of hours in 1 day, i.e. with 24.
