    Text Boxes (Word 2002 / SP3)

In earlier versions of Word, when I created a text box it was easy to move it infinitely where I wanted it. Why do they fix what isn't broke? With so many more options to format text boxes in the newer versions, I can't tell what combination I need to be able to do this again. Is there a fix for this?

Clear the checkbox marked "Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting Autoshapes" in Tools > Options > General
Set your preferred format in Tools > Options > Edit > "Insert / Paste picture as", I think that Square might be the one that you are asking for.

When you have set these preferences they will be the default for all autoshapes (including text boxes) that you insert in future.

Thanks! That worked after I created a whole new document. I was working with a bitmap within a text box in a table that I created in an earlier version of Word. I guess it didn't like that, but it works great now that I started fresh.
