    unexpected WinFirewall popup?

I was just reading an article on New Republic Online, and closed Firefox, and got a Windows Firewall popup saying my computer was unprotected, and
did I want to switch Windows Firewall on. Very strange. I'm running winXPH SP2, SpySweeper, Norton NAV, and the Kerio firewall. The Kerio had nothing in its log
to indicate any intrusion. Makes no sense to me. Anyone have any ideas?
Firefox was also running with "Normal" privileges thanks to DropMyRights. I'd just like to hear any ideas. I'm going to run a spyware scan for good measure,
though my last one was quite recent, and I've rarely had any trace of that kind of critter. This is a new one on me.
NOTE ADDED LATER: I forgot to mention that I haven't yet added any of the new patch Tuesday items that became available 3 days ago, and I do have the MS shield
that reminds me. I am set for notifications but no automatic downloads or installations.
NOTE LATER YET: A very strong hunch: It's the MS Update Notification, with either a bug in it, or an interaction with a subtle bug in the other security programs.
    I consider this "best fit".

I'm not sure on this but I don't know if Windows Security recognizes Kerio firewall at all. Is this the first time you have seen the popup about this? It seems to me that there were some firewalls that it ( WS ) didn't acknowledge as being there but that MAY have been fixed at one point.

If you are certain that your Kerio firewall is working Ok, you can turn off that alert by going to Control Panel>Security Center>Resources and clicking on " Change the way Security Center alerts me". There you can uncheck the firewall alert.

    Re: unexpected WinFirewall popup?

Bob, I've had the Kerio for a few months and this never happened. (It also didn't happen in the sessions since this one incident).
It also didn't happen in the N times I've had the computer on and romping around since Patch Tuesday, other than this once.
I'll keep in mind the option of turning off the alert, if appropriate, as I don't know if this incident foreshadows anything bigger.
I'm hoping it's a quirk, associated with the update alert. We've heard about some bugs in the update programs this time ...

If it only happened on this one instance, I would just keep my eye on it to see if occurs again.
    It may well have been Update Notification. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>
