SP2 reports 'corrupt' fonts (WinXP Home/SP2)

I have some fonts that worked on WinXP Home SP0, and for the record Win 3.11, and 98SE as well, but are flagged as "possibly corrupt" by WinXP Home SP2 and can't be installed.

I can switch my computer between SP0 and SP2, by swapping hard drives, to demonstrate that the problem is not hardware related, but just to SP2. It also offers some insight as to why the only way to get SP2 on at all was via a fresh WindowsXP installation on a new hard drive.

Does anybody have any clues what it is about these font files that SP2 objects to, and can it be fixed?

These fonts are on my business letterheads, so I need to pursue this to a positive conclusion, or retire early. (I wish)

After much searching, the only program that will even open them under SP2 is FontCreator 5.5, and it even offers to install them, but the results look like MS sans serif and not my beloved "Beleiz thick extended".

Several collegues have downloaded this font and also failed to install it under SP2.

Nik

I can't find anything on Google except your questions about this on other forums. I'll poke around and see if I can get an answer from an outside source.

I couldn't find anything on this font either.
Is it a custom font?
Where did your colleagues download it from?

It's around on the net Bob. I downloaded a copy and unzipped it to my desktop. Tried a few Font programs I have and the results were the same as the OPs. It was either reported as corrupt or if the program was able to view the font, it looked like sanserf and not the examples on the internet. It would seem that font will not work with XP. There was no copyright or author information to be found on the font either.

I didn't really want a copy, just wondered where he got the font or was it a custom created one.

Just for the record there have been more responses on here than anywhere else. 10/10
So as to not look like a flake I have found an answer.
Reading the manual for FontCreator I found this

Note: The easiest way to give your font a name is to use the AutoNaming wizard available
from the Tools menu.
For the Microsoft (Unicode or Symbol) Platform these naming entries for English - United
States should be available:

Just for informational purposes, as I can't seem to be of assistance here, I was able to open the file with FontLister v3.4.9. It would only display in what appeared to be san serif font and not the style you wanted.

You might have to set up a dule boot system with XP SP1 on a seperate partition or even keep one system loaded with just XP, or any of the earlier OS's, and no internet access to do your printing.
