AOL + inactivity timer

(Edited by curious on 17-Sep-06 10:38. )
Hi -

    (WinXP, Home) (Using AOL 9.0)

We are using dial-up to connect to AOL. Suddenly, after years of no "interruption of service due to inactivity," we are getting kicked off.

YEARS ago we had a program that prevented this. (I think "AOL" was part of its title) Then, when we upgraded, it seemed we didn't need the program -it's so long ago that we had this problem that I can't remember what OS we used without this interruption.

Does anyone know of such a program that's compatible with WinXP?

I did a Google search, but I am not using the correct keywords: I just come up with timers.

Any help is appreciated, as always.

    Thank you,
    Curious

    Try this link

http://learn.ucf.edu/aol.html the latter paragraphs seem to be talking of a method correcting this problem

    jerry -

Thanks for the link. I had seen that, but was looking for something that would let me avoid gong back into AOL, something that would automate this.

Have a look at Connection Keeper - Keeps your connection alive and automatically closes popup windows. and a paragraph starting with 'Tired of being disconnected...' at Surfing The Internet - General Tips.

    Joe -

Thanks much for the sites. I had noted some of the programs mentioned in the Surfing the Internet page. Has anyone out there tried any of them?

Probably not too many people in the Lounge. I've not had anything to do with AOL for well over 10 years.
