Welcome message every day? (Outlook 2000 SR-1 C/WG)

I had Outlook 2000 installed two days ago. Each day since, when I start Outlook, I receive the "Welcome to Microsoft Outlook 2000" message in my Inbox. Should I be getting this? How do I stop it?

Is Outlook 2000 the only version of Outlook you have installed on your machine? I had this problem when I installed 2000 to D:, and 97 was still installed on C:. I think it has to do with the fact that Outlook 2000 can't update the registry correctly unless it is installed to the C: drive.

You could check out this KB article, it may help.

You could also set Outlook up to automatically delete the message. Go to Organize (on the toolbar from the Inbox), and add it to the junk mail list.

I hope this helps a little!

I was upgraded from Microsoft Exchange 7.0 to Outlook two days ago, as part of an upgrade from Office 95 to Office 2000. I do have Outlook Express installed on this machine from IE 5.5, that has been there some time. I never used it as an e-mail client, only as a newsreader.

Outlook is apparently installed on the C: drive, although there is an application on my D: drive called Dcom95.exe, which somehow was installed at the same time as Office 2000 was loaded on my PC. No idea what that is.

By the way, one of our desktop support people thinks this problem may be related to a failure to update my roaming profile.

<img src=/S/lightbulb.gif border=0 alt=lightbulb width=15 height=15> The desktop support people may be on to something with the non-updating roaming profile. Can you manually update your roaming profile (Rightclick My Computer-user profiles-copy to...)? Outlook may just not know that you have used it before. I know that SEVERAL settings are stored in users profiles, and I believe that the Welcome screen is one of those settings. If you aren't updating, then that may be the culprit.

No such luck manually updating my roaming profile. However, the desktop support tech is supposed to be coming by today to check on my problem. Hopefully, this will be the solution. Thanks for your help, I'll let you know.
