    Adding 'TO' address (2002/SP3)

When I enter an address in the TO field, the autocomplete feature enters a duplicate for some of my addresses. I checked the address book and contact and found no anomalies.

Autocomplete uses its own file, known as the "nickname" file. In Outlook 2002 and 2003, this file has a .nk2 file extension.

As you type the first part of a stored nickname, Outlook will display one or more choices to autocomplete. To remove one, arrow up or down on the pop-up list until it is selected and press the Delete key. If that doesn't work, the nickname file might be corrupted. As it is uneditable, you can delete it and start building a fresh one.

I searched for a *.nk2 file and nothing was found. I'm getting a double entry and not a column of choices from which to delete.

You should be able to find the .nk2 file if you are using autocomplete. However, that folder might be hidden. When you search, Windows XP offers additional options to search for hidden/system files that you probably need to enable. Or, for all versions of Windows, turn on viewing of hidden files. To do that, use Tools>Folder Options... in either Windows Explorer or My Computer, and read down the View tab until you find those options.

Thanks, that did the trick. I'll test it for a few days and see if it was permanent.

The problem has returned. Any other suggestions? It appears to be happening to only one contact.
