Date format in track changes (2003 SP2)

When I use track changes, the hover text shows the date and time the change was made. But the date and time are coming up in US format, that is MM/DD/YYYY and not the UK format, which would be DD/MM/YYYY. So in the example below, the change was actually made on 11 September, not on 9 November.

The Regional and Language settings in control panel are all set to UK, the default language in Word is set to English (UK) and the default date format in Word (from the dialog you get at Insert - Date and Time...) is set to English (UK) and correctly gives me 26/09/2006 for today's date.

So how do I get the format I want in the hover text?

I don't have a solution, only two remarks:

    1) Word *is* able to display the correct date format. On my Dutch language system, it uses dd-mm-yyyy as date format in revision balloons
    2) From questions asked here in the past, I get the impression that the UK English version of Word is much more prone to revert to US English in some of its settings than foreign language versions. Perhaps the programmers didn't try as hard because so much is the same.

My UK English Word 2003 SP2 displays 26/09/2006, so it must be possible to get this right with UK English too.

Does the language of the marked/revised text make any difference?

No - the language of the text in question is definitely English (UK).

Now that I've had the chance to check I can report that at work I get the UK style date; but at home I don't. (Both with Word 2003.)
