    Joe:

    They're set to "High"...

I never adjust that setting from default.

Macros Keep Turning Off (MSO 2003 SP-2)

    Now I AM confused:

On a whim, I just went and created a digital signature, and signed the macros...

Then, when I started the macros I (THEN) got the option to Enable" the macros and "Always trust ..."

And from that point on -- so far at least -- they work.

But I didn't create these with a signature to start with, so why would I "have" to sing them and then trust that signature?

I'm getting more befuddled, not less. Is there something I should (have) read and haven't yet?

    I don't understand:

I just installed MS Office (yes, again).

Then deleted the vbaproject.otm file, re-started Outlook, and imported my macros (bas file).

    They worked fine.

But then, after I exit Outlook and come back in, all macros have been disabled.

I re-did the process, and the same thing happened.

What turns off the macros like this? Can I stop it from happening "permanently"?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

If macro security is set to High, unsigned macros are always disabled when you start Oultook (or when you open a Workbook in Excel or open a document in Word etc.).
Macros you create or import during a session will run without problems during that same session, but they will also be disabled next time.

When you sign the macros with a digitial signature, you get prompted once whether you want to enable the macros and whether you trust the signature. From then on, the macros will be enabled without any prompting. However, if you reinstall Office, you'll have to repeat the signing.

    Hans:

    Finally I think I understand...

I've been around this thing several times and never really grocked what I was doing...

    Thanks,
    Chuck
