    I was thinking over this one. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Is it anything to do with wingdings?</span hide>

This is a better hint than it may seem at first...

    Hint: <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">From past experiences, I would guess that StuartR could solve this in minutes.</span hide>

    Re: Dual Purpose

Didn't help me much, the only idea I had for this one was to look for a pattern that I could <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">shift on a QWERTY keyboard</span hide> but that didn't work.

    Re: Dual Purpose

I really thought this one would be solved a little quicker...
In this particular case, additional instruction would detract from the puzzle. I will tell you that there are two solutions and this time, it was intentional. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Perhaps a little tea would help!</span hide>

    Re: Dual Purpose

Don't know if I should be amused or scared, but my Survival Guide clearly says that "one should avoid frustrating a teddy bear while said bear is in possession of a chain saw"...

If you're still pondering this mess of a puzzle, here are a few more clues. Warning though, the more clues you reveal, the closer you get to the actual solution and cheating yourself from the fun and joy <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">frustration and anger</span hide> of solving. Try to avoid 4, 5, 6 and 7.

    1. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">This puzzle is not mathematical in any way. I could have used other symbols to make the puzzle work.</span hide>

    2. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Quit thinking like a scientist for a moment and approach the puzzle as a 4th grader might.</span hide>

    3. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">While constructing this puzzle, I realized that it had an alternate solution. Usually, someone else discovers that before I do!</span hide>

    4. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Did you try the TEA</span hide>

    5. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">The 10 symbols are simple substitutions for 10 letters</span hide>

    6. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">The symbols indicate the line on your QWERTY keyboard where the needed letter appears.</span hide>

    7. <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">There are only two 10-letter words that can be formed from the letter set. In fact, the words are related.</span hide>

    Re: Dual Purpose

First class puzzle, but I still needed lots of clues and <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">TEA</span hide> to find both solutions.

That should have been a lot easier

    Re: Dual Purpose

Nope, I am as frustrated to hell here, don't what the hell you mean. Putting things in capitals and italics doesn't work. All I know about the top row of a keyboard are the words:
    KEYBOARD
    PEPPERROT
    EPPERWORT
    PERPETUITY
    PEWTERWORT
    PIROUETTER
    PREREQUIRE
    PRETORTURE
    PROPRIETOR
    REPERTOIRE

    BUT :{{:{<{{{{ <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

PM me the spoiler will you please?
