Mailmerge problem with Access query (Word/Access 2002)

    Word/Access 2002, on a Win XP machine.

I am trying to use mail merge to create a document in Word from an Access query. The query has about 100 fields, including about 25 calculated fields. The query has suddenly stopped appearing when I look within the database for the data source for the merge. I notice many other of the queries in the database are not appearing, either. Any suggestions on how to get them to appear? I've already determined that I can export the data and use it, but that seems awkward and I'd like a better solution.

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

    Try the following in Word:
    - Select Tools | Options...
    - Activate the General tab.
    - Tick the check box 'Confirm conversion at Open'.
    - Click OK.

Now go back to step 3 in the Mail Merge Wizard (task pane).
    - Click Browse...
    - Select the database and click Open.
    - You'll get a dialog asking how you want to connect to the database, with 3 or more options:
    - OLE DB Database Files
    - MS Access Databases via DDE
    - MS Access Database via ODBC

Try the DDE or ODBC option instead of the default OLE DB.

    Note:
If you select OLE DB Database Files, you should see all tables and those queries that OLE DB can handle, in one list.
If you select the DDE option, you'll get a dialog with a Tables tab and a Queries tab.
If you select the ODBC option, you'll see only tables in the list. Click Options and tick the Views check box to see queries too.

Perfect! That solves the problem completely! BTW, I have the Mail Merge tool bar activated, and your suggested approach works equally well using it.

    Congrats on the 50,000th post.
