Auto Correct "mr smith" to "Mr. Smith" (Word 2000 sr1a)

Is there a way to do an elaborate auto correct that would capitalize the first letter following "Mr." or "Mrs." or "Ms."?
I have set the auto correct feature in office to turn "mr" into "Mr.", but the capitalization has me baffled.
    Any clues?

    Thanks
    Rick

    Yes.

Make sure 'Capitalize first letter of sentences' is checked in
    the autocorrect dialog: Tools>Autocorrect.

    Now try typing: mr smith

    Kevin,
That box is already checked. I don't think it recognizes "smith" as a first word of a new sentence.

    Any other ideas?

Show me how you type it. (Come on, I know this is insulting your intelligence, but let's be thorough).

You're typing mr [space] smith [space] ?

    Also,

You don't have smith in the autotext or autocorrect lists do you? (Hey, when experienting I've done stuff like this and forgotten about it.)

When I checked this in my Word 2000 I first had to go in and add autocorrect entries for mr and mrs changing them to Mr. and Mrs., respectively.

Then, I had to remove an exception for auto capitalize after Mr. (don't know if this came with program or is something that I added myself).

That was it!!!!!!!! I went to the "exceptions" for capitalization and the "don't capitalize after Mr." was on there. After I took it off, it work.

    Thanks!!
