    SBC Ewire DSL Modem/Router

I volunteer at our local Humane Society Thrift Shop and "do" the computers (and computer related equipment) that are donated. Someone brought in an Ewire SBC DSL modem/router. We do not have SBC here in northern Arkansas. Is it possible to use this DSL modem/router with other providers or is it proprietary to SBC?

Hook it up and find out. The modem might be proprietary but routers are generally generic, I believe. I can't find any solid info on this. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Re: SBC Ewire DSL Modem/Router

My Sister and Brother-In-Law uses SBC's DSL Modem/Router but it was called 2-Wire. The problem, was that the modem/router was using SBC Online software to configure and control the Modem/Router. Based on the manufacture name and serial number, it could be setup generically but required some technical skills (which they did not have and I did not want to support long distance).

You can try to get more information from http://sbcglobal.net. A list of modems SBC supports is here.

There Help Page has some links on the left side of the page which includes newsgroups.

    Hope this helps.
