Make Table Query Dups (Access 2003)

I split our Access db and now when we run a make-table query using mulitple tables from the the backend, we keep getting duplicates. When a single table is used to run the make-table query (w/ a criteria to filter the data) we get 46 or 27 entries depending on the table. But when both tables are used we get 20,102 which is just duplicates of the one table.

What I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Have you joined the tables correctly in the query? 20,102 is a multiple of 46, so it sounds as if you have based the query on tables without joining them on the appropriate field(s).

Reply was helpful but my partner went to Access class since then and after much hair pulling we have decided to create a new db and with new tables. Seems the old db was wonky due to poor design from the beginning. But thank you very much for your prompt answer!
