That's such a subjective request, Chuck, that I'm not about to try making something that you're not too likely to "approve of." What graphics program or programs do you have on your system? Have you Googled around for GIFs or JPGs that you might modify to get something you like?

Easy-peasy if you have Excel and a screen grabber.

1] Colour a section of cells to suit your own taste
2] Screen grab a suitable section, save as (e.g.) background.gif
3] Set it as the page background:
    <code> <body background="background.gif">
    code and stuff here...
    </body></code>

    Hi Chuck

Slightly different to Leif's idea, you can use a graphib that is 100 px wide and 2 px high. By doing this with a little bit of stylesheet use can get it to repeat along the x axis and the y axis. Example of graphic below....and this way you can guarantee it will fit across the screen <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

...actually Chuck, you may as well have this attachment <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Al:

I'm not sure until I've got it either... but method I think is what I'm after...

    Leif:

I hadn't even thought of Excel (or the like)... what a good idea!

    Jerry:

I hope (someday soon) to feel brave enough to work through style sheets. They always seem to be the most elegant answer, when I can ever get a handle on the process... And NO, they wouldn't have left me out to perish THEN, although there are many that probably have though about doing it today!

    Regards,
    Chuck

I realised that you don't need styles it is just < body background="myimage" >

If you want (don't tell Leif this, <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>but I will make you a graphic, as long as you tell me the strength of the yellow and grey)

<img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> Sorry, I saw the graphiccy thingy and glanced over, I suppose I was thinking of just making the graphic 1 px high and went off on a Jezza wander

    Re: Vertical stripes

    No probs <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I suggested using a relatively large graphic - my example was about 30 pixels high - simply to make it easier to work with. You attached a 2 pixel high sample above, but am I right in thinking it really only needs to be 1 pixel high?

    Re: Vertical stripes

This is similar to malcolm post <!post=shaded gif,604862>shaded gif<!/post> where he has done horizontal tiling, if you go to his link in the threads it shows a header area in the website and his graphic is only 1 px wide
