    Old Woody's Newsletter

<img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> In one of the Woody's Newsletters recently (within the past 6 months I think) there was an article about cleaning files off your computer before selling it, for security reasons. I've looked through the archives and can't locate the article. Does anyone remember it?

Thank you very much for any help!

No, but the best way is to Format the hard drives and install the OS and any OEM software that came with the machine. This is the best way to insure that you have nOT left anything behind.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

What if Erica Quick Formats the hard drives? What if she has NTFS partitions? What if someone getting the system had a disk editing tool, couldn't they see data if the drives were quick formatted and not wiped?

Wouldn't you want to recommend she has everything backed up (all her data files copied), before formatting and installing anything, as she was asking about "cleaning files off your computer before selling it, for security reasons." I would say the most important thing would be to ensure she has everything first before wiping the drives.

    Just a thought or two.

One of the best ways is to take out the hard drive and put it in your new machine.
