    Where is the template? (2000)

    I am using an old computer while my new one is being repaired. I am running XP home edition and Word 2000 and Outlook 2000. Outlook is set to use Word as its editor. I am having difficulty resolving the following;

    1) When I click on New in Outlook, the resulting blank document has default settings for style, font and font size that are not what I want. If I Search for the normal.dot and email.dot files and and click on them I get my desired format. I also get the desired format by opening Word directly. The folder that these template files reside in is the folder designated for User templates as shown by clicking on Tools, Options, File locations. Furthermore, no other files with the names normal.dot and email.dot are found by Search anywhere else on the system. So the question is where is Outlook (or Word) getting its template information, what might the template be named or how do I get the format I want?

    2) When in Outlook if I click on New and then, in the new (Word) document window, I click on Tools, Options, General tab and finally Email options I get the following Word error message:

    I'd turn off Word as e-mail editor. It causes a lot of problems.

    Well, turning off Word as the editor fixed problem #1. Thanks.
    In the process I also learned that blank stationery is not the same as none.
    Problem # 2 persists, but is not limiting me in any way. Lets hope that is the case till my other computer is repaired.

    If you have turned off Word as e-mail editor, you shouldn't get a Word window any more when you click on New, so I don't understand how #2 can persist...

    Oh, now I understand. I don't know if is important enough to pursue, but you could try the steps in Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000),197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000)<!/post>.
