Print layout view grid in Word 2000? (Word 2000 SR1a)

Some, but not all, documents my user receives and opens in Print Layout view look as if there is a sheet of graph paper on which contents overlays. We can't find a table, a watermark graphic, or find the grid in the headers or body. Nor can I reproduce this on my machine. The user is running Word 2000 on NT. Anyone have any input on this?

Sounds like View drawing gridlines is active.
    Check by:
    1.Display the Drawing toolbar
2.On the Drawing toolbar, click Draw, and then click Grid.
    3. If the Display gridlines on screen check box is checked, uncheck it.
If the Display gridlines on screen check box is not checked, I don't have a clue - yet.
