    Networking

I have a notebook computer with win98se plus 3 desktops with winxpsp2 all connected to my network. When I got a wireless router I put a wireless adapter in the notebook. The 3 desktops are connected by ethernet to the wireless router and can all see the network (each other) and access the internet. The notebook can access the internet but cannot see the 3 desktops. The 3 desktops can't see the notebook either.

    What have I missed?

Lots of variables, Colin. First, take a read through this StarPost from StuartR ( <post:=589,883>post 589,883</post:> ) and see how you make out. One thing that comes up frequently is the logon user name on the Win98 machine so check the fourth paragraph down. Let us know anything more that you can.

    Re: Networking

It wasn't the logon username or anything else I could determine. I just started from the beginning, again, (4th try) and followed all the steps and now it works. I wish I knew what it was that I was doing wrong the first 3 times! <img src=/S/nosleep.gif border=0 alt=nosleep width=27 height=15>

    Colin,

Thanks for letting us know, I guess so long as it is now working we will have to be happy with the outcome!

As Stuart has already said, at least you've got it and that's what's important. Good show!
