    Delete/remove Access created data source (A2k3 SP2)

    Hi All,
How do I delete or remove Machine Data Sources which have been created by <File><Get External Data><Link Tables...>, then Files of types ODBC Databases()?
They don't show up using the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    Thank you.

They ought to be visible in the ODBC Data Source Administrator - have you looked in both the User DSN and System DSN tabs?

If all else fails, you can edit the registry:
    - User data sources are found under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareODBCODBC.INI
    - System data sources are found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareODBCODBC.INI

    Yup, sure have. <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>
    I'll hack the registry.
    Thank you Hans.

OK, the data sources I found in the registry are the ones listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator. I can't find any trace of the Machine data sources I've created with the method mentioned in my first post.

Perhaps you created a file data source (a file with extension .DSN). Such a data source would be listed in the File DSN tab of the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
The default path for File DSNs is C:Program FilesCommon FilesODBCData Sources, but since you can change the path when you create the DSN, it could be anywhere.

Re: Delete/remove Access created data source (A2k3 SP2)

No such luck there either, as I did a machine-wide search for *.dsn and did not turn up any. However...........
I'm sitting between my 2 office machines, my 3+ year old laptop (WinXP 32 bit) and less than 6 months Gateway E-series (WinXP 64 bit). Everything is as you say it should be on the laptop, I can see, create, etc. everything that is in the Machine Data Source tab (as per the first post senario), from the System Data Source tab (while using the ODBC Data Source Administrator). I've been working on the 64 bit machine, so that's why this behaviour has been so odd to me.
So, my next question would be, where/what is the difference in the data source location/setup between the 32 bit Windows and 64 bit Windows?

Ah! There should be two Data Source Administrators on your 64 bit machine: one for 32 bits ODBC, and one for 64 bits ODBC. Look for files whose name start with odbcad. On my 32 bit XP machine, there is an odbcad32.exe in C:WindowsSystem32 (plus some copies in folders such as C:I386); this is the standard ODBC Data Source Administrator. Do you have another one in C:WindowsSyswow64?

    Registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeODBC
